Locking area appears in police and First Bus alerts within days

A fire investigation near the Locking Farm Industrial Estate and a planned road closure on Elm Tree Road have put the Locking area in two separate official notices.

Avon & Somerset Police said an investigation has been launched into the cause of a large fire near Locking Farm Industrial Estate, which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday 18 August [1]. The Locking area is also due for a separate transport disruption on Friday 28 August, when First Bus said Elm Tree Road, Locking will be closed between 0930 and 1530 [5].

During the closure, First Bus said service 125 towards Wrington will operate its normal route to the Helicopter Museum bus stop, then divert along the A371, turn right onto Old Banwell Road, follow the one-way system and turn right into Meadow Drive before resuming normal route [5]. Service 125 towards Weston will operate normal route to Locking Village, then divert via Meadow Drive, Old Banwell Road and the A371 to resume normal route at the Helicopter Museum bus stop [5]. First Bus said the Elm Tree Road Garage, South Lawn and Beechwood stops will be unable to be served and advised passengers to use the Helicopter Museum or Fairacre Close stops instead [5].

The Locking alerts came as Avon & Somerset Police issued two other witness appeals within the same period: one after a man and a woman were assaulted in Stokes Croft, Bristol, between 3.50am and 4.05am on Friday 14 August [3], and another after a suspected arson incident at Pen Elm Hill, Norton Fitzwarren, on Friday 21 August [6]. First Bus also listed separate service changes for Cowdray Park, Plymouth Drive, Hill Head, Fareham, from Monday 24 August to Tuesday 8 September [2], and for High Street, Wibsey, on 21, 24–28 August and 1–2 September [4].
