Editorial policy

Bristol Daily News publishes short news stories about Bristol from cited public sources. Stories are drafted by software, checked against their sources, and rejected if the claims do not hold up.

What we do

• Trace every factual claim to a cited source. Each story links to the sources it was built from, and our system records which source supports which sentence.
• Link to the originals. We summarise and synthesise; we do not republish other outlets' articles or photographs.
• Correct quickly. See the corrections page.

What we don't do

• No ads or sponsored content.
• No paywall. The site is free to read.
• No trackers or personal data collection. We do not use cookies, analytics scripts or fingerprinting. See the privacy page.
• No editorial side. We report what the cited sources say; we do not add opinion or take a position.
• No invented details. Stories never contain quotes, names, figures or events that do not appear in the cited sources. Stories that fail automated claim-checking are not published.
• No risky crime or court coverage. We use only official, same-day sources; we never name victims of sexual offences; categories subject to reporting restrictions are excluded entirely.

Known limits

Automation can misjudge significance and can repeat errors present in a source. Sources themselves can be wrong. Treat these stories as a starting point and follow the links.
