Single Thursday sees committee meetings at three West of England councils

Council records show that Thursday 10 September 2026 was a shared sitting day for local authorities across the West of England, with committee meetings taking place in three different council areas within the same afternoon.

Bristol City Council's meetings records show its Licensing (Hearings) Sub-Committee met at 10.00 am and its Children and Young People Policy Committee met at 5.00 pm on that date [5][3]. Somerset Council's records show its Licensing Sub-Committee met at 2.00 pm the same day [7], and Forest of Dean District Council's records show its Cabinet met at 5.30 pm [8]. The Children and Young People Policy Committee had also published an agenda supplement for a public forum earlier that day [4].

The pattern of Thursday sittings extended beyond that date. That was the same day Avon & Somerset Police said a Staple Hill man was sentenced at Bristol Magistrates' Court for six counts of shop theft [2].
