From forecourt to pub: Somerset’s cost pressures stack up in one news week

Separate local reports published this week covered a range of costs linked to motoring, food supply, parking and the pub trade in Somerset.

Clinton Rogers explored why fuel prices vary so widely across Somerset and questioned soaring costs at motorway services [1][2][3][4].

Hovis strike action at Avonmouth was paused on 24 September as Unite drivers vote on a revised pay offer, easing fears over bread supplies across Somerset [5][6][7][8].

Somerset Council’s plans to scrap free Sunday parking across Bridgwater car parks have sparked criticism from Bridgwater Town Council [9].

The same week saw 43 pubs across Bath, Taunton, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Frome, Wells and wider Somerset listed for sale on Rightmove [10][11][12][13].

Read together, the reports span fuel, food supply, parking and the local pub trade.
