First Bus issues diversion notices for Hartley Brook Road, King Street, Beach Esplanade, Sevenoaks Road and Bridport Road

First Bus issued service updates on 5 October 2026 covering diversions on routes including Hartley Brook Road, King Street, Beach Esplanade, Sevenoaks Road and Bridport Road in Dorchester [1][2][3][4][5][6][7].

Hartley Brook Road has been closed due to unannounced roadworks [1][5]. First Bus said the affected services are diverting until further notice at all times [1][5]. Services 47 and 48 are diverting via Sicey Avenue and Beck Road to terminate/commence inbound service on Bellhouse Road, Nether Shire Lane and Sicey Avenue; service 75 is diverting via Bellhouse Road, Beck Road, Sicey Avenue, Green Lane, The Common and High Street in both directions [1][5]. A separate updated notice repeats the service 75 diversion [5].

The bridge on King Street will be closed on Thursday 8 October between 21:00 and 05:00, and services 36 and 36A will divert via Clarence Street, Ashwood, Wood Street, Upper Cross Street and Anchor Road [2].

Beach Esplanade is closed from 06:00 on 5 October for approximately four weeks [3]. Service 13 to Seaton/Scatterburn will divert from the Beach Ballroom via Links Road, taking the fourth exit at the roundabout, and Esplanade will not be served [3].

Services 2 and 3 will divert between 09:30 and 14:30 from 15.10 to 16.10 [4]. Towards Portsmouth, the diversion runs via Ludlow Road, Washbrook Road, Southampton Road, Southwick Hill and Nightingale Road; towards Allaway Avenue Shops, it runs via Nightingale Road, Southampton Road, Allaway Avenue and Washbrook Road [4].

On Bridport Road in Dorchester, services 10, 10A and X51 are diverting inbound, with outbound unaffected [6][7]. One notice routed inbound services via Williams Avenue, B3144, Great Western Road and Weymouth Avenue and said Top O Town, Museum and Acland Road would not be served [6]. An updated notice routes inbound services via Williams Avenue, B3144, Great Western Road, Trinity Street and High East Street and says Top O Town will not be served [7].
