Committee Mondays: Bristol, Somerset, Gloucester and Cheltenham line up council meetings on the same days

Local government business is clustering on Mondays in mid-September. On Monday 14 September 2026, five council committees are scheduled across three authorities: Bristol City Council lists Area Committee 1 (Avonmouth and Lawrence Weston, Henbury and Bentry, Southmead and Horfield) at 5.30 pm [5], the Strategy and Resources Policy Committee at 2.00 pm [6], and the Downs Committee at 2.00 pm [7]; Somerset Council has scheduled its Licensing and Regulatory Committee for 2.00 pm [9]; and Gloucester City Council has scheduled its Audit and Governance Committee for 6.30 pm [10].

A second cluster is set for the following Monday, 21 September.

The first of these meeting days coincides with a road closure in Bath. First Bus said Northgate Street would be closed from 08:00 on Sunday 13 September until 06:00 on Monday 14 September, affecting services 3, D1x and 6a, with services D1x and 3 terminating at the Hilton Hotel and unable to serve the Guildhall or Grande Parade stops, and service 6a terminating at Milsom Street with the Bath Abbey stop unserved [8]. First Bus said the U1 and 31 Park and Ride services would not be affected by the closure [8].
